Physical Therapy

We provide professional and comprehensive evaluations to assess your full musculoskeletal system for posture, strength, biomechanics, joint range of motion and pain patterns. We provide both Manual Techniques to correct concerns and specific exercise instruction with movement rebalance to provide independence from pain and limitations.

Our Specialty?

Pain and/or fatigue and/or limited movement from chronic patterns to acute rehabilitation after surgery.

Manual Medicine

Manual Medicine is a coined term to include all hands-on manual techniques that adjust the structure of muscle, bone, nerve and Qi flow. Qi being the descriptive word used in Manual Oriental Medicine called Tui Na. Bone adjustments fall under the DC and OD scopes of practice but the following are provided here at Wisdom Traditions Healthcare Center:

CranioSacral Therapy (CST)
A gentle, noninvasive manual technique is an assessment tool plus a corrective and preventative treatment used often with Migraines, TMJ, Sacrum and LB complaints. Often included in all manual treatment sessions.

Myofascial Release (MFR)
A manual gentle holding stretch technique, that is an assessment tool plus a corrective and preventative treatment used often in thoracic, abdominal and low back concerns. MFR and CST often are given in the same session.

Neuromuscular Massage Therapy (NMT)
A deeper and greater pressure hands-on manual technique is an assessment tool for a Physical Therapist and provides corrective treatment for deep muscle spasms that limit blood circulation and lead to chronic patterns of pain.

Acupuncture

First question always….Does it Hurt?

When people first hear the word Acupuncture, they incorrectly think of needles with injections. Acupuncture sensations cannot be compared to the feeling of an injection because the needles for injections are much larger and hollow. Acupuncture needles are not hollow and are extremely fine and flexible (about the size of a human hair). When the needles are gently inserted, a sensation of warmth or tingling can be felt and then some people feel nothing at all at the insertion. Often patients find their treatments very relaxing and some even fall asleep.
The easy way to understand why Acupuncture changes the body is through the metaphor of a computer keyboard. We use various keys through the needle insertion sites to assist in changing a symptom you are experiencing and return the body to health.

What does Acupuncture Treat?

• Acute Sinusitus
• Common Cold
• Acute and Chronic Pharyngitis
• Acute Bronchitis
• Bronchial Asthma
• Acute Conjunctivitis Toothache, post-extraction pain
• Gingivitis
• Gastritis
• Colitis
• Constipation
• Diarrhea
• Headache and Migraines
• Pareses following a stroke
• Peripheral Neuropathies
• Neurogenic Bladder Dysfunction
• Frozen Shoulder/Tennis Elbow
• Sciatica
• Low Back Pain
• Osteoarthritis

Medical Qigong

A non-needle manual technique based on the paradigm of Oriental Medicine and Acupressure, utilizing the meridians to adjust patterns of decreased blood flow and flexibility. This technique can also assist in the health of our organs systems and emotional balance. Private instruction option of Medical Qigong exercise is offered to all clients.
