Trauma and PTSD Recovery
Sharon began her career working with severely traumatized patients and has gained valuable experience from working with these individuals. These experiences helped to develop a deep understanding of the affects of trauma. Sharon is an advanced EMDR practitioner. She has been practicing EMDR in Anchorage since 2003 in a variety of settings, including community mental health, chemical dependency and private practice. In addition to seeking out new learning opportunities, Sharon also participates in an EMDR consultation group with other professionals in order to continue to enhance skills and provide the best care to her clients.
Pregnancy and Postpartum Mood Disorders
Sharon has also taken a special interest in working with women who experience mood disorders and other difficulties during pregnancy and postpartum. Providing support, understanding and education about perinatal mood disorders is essential. It is important for women to know that they are not alone in their experience, that it isn’t their fault, and that they can feel better.
Chemical and Behavioral Addiction Recovery
Sharon also works with patients and families affected by addictive disease. She has a comprehensive understanding of chemical and behavioral addictions and how this disease affects families. She has a special interest in helping family members cope with the chaos addiction can bring.
